Each is weighted into one score, and every issue in the report comes with its fix.

   Text extraction (25%)

   Can the text be pulled out at all? A scanned or image-only PDF reads as blank, the most common silent rejection.

   Section detection (25%)

   Are there headings a parser recognises: Experience, Education, Skills? Summary and Projects count as a bonus.

   Contact details (20%)

   Name, email, phone, then LinkedIn and location, as plain text rather than inside an image or header graphic.

4. 04

   Structure (15%)

   Consistent dates ("Jun 2024", "2023 – Present"), bullet points, skills written as a list, and no layout that scrambles reading order.

   Content density (15%)

   Enough words, skills, experience and education entries for a parser to build a profile, without heavy repetition.

One deterministic score

The same resume always gets the same score. The checks are rules, not AI.

What a good ATS score is

Aim for 75 or more. Below 60, fix the first issue the report lists, re-upload, and check again.

Freshers: one thing to check

The checker looks for an Experience section. If you have no job yet, put internships, part-time work or major projects under a heading named “Experience” so a parser finds it.

What this does not check

Whether your resume shows the right skills for a role. That's the Resume Score (against a role) or Job Post Match (against a specific job posting).

ATS check with a job description

The ATS check (in the app: Format Check) scores out of 100 whether resume-screening software can read your resume: its text, section headings, contact details, structure and content density. It does not look at any job posting.

Job Post Match compares your resume with a job posting you paste in and gives a match score out of 100 for the posting's required and nice-to-have skills: which ones your resume shows and which are missing. That is a skill match, not an ATS score.

Both are free: two runs a day each without login, and no daily limit once you sign in (also free).
