How to do a skill gap analysis
Companies run this on whole teams to plan hiring and training. Skilture does the version for one person and one role: your resume against the skills that role asks for.
The same five steps whether you do it by hand or let the Resume Score do the comparison.
- 1
Pick one target role.
One role at a time. A gap only means something against a specific job.
- 2
List the skills that role asks for.
Each role page below lists them, marked core, important or nice-to-have.
- 3
Check which ones your resume shows.
Count only what is written down. A skill you have but never mention reads as missing, to a recruiter as much as to us.
- 4
Rank the missing ones: core first, then important, then nice-to-have.
Core skills carry half the score, so one core gap matters more than any nice-to-have.
- 5
Make a plan for the top gaps, then re-check.
Close two or three, add them to your resume, and run the check again. Skilture's free Learning Path links each gap to free material.
