Privacy notice

You can read every page on this site without an account and without telling us who you are. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number anywhere on skilture.com, and nothing you read here is tied to a person.

What we do collect is which pages get read, so we know which guides and role pages are worth writing more of. That is the whole purpose. We do not sell data, we run no advertising, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers on this site.

Our own measurement. When you open a page, we record the address of that page, the moment you opened it, and the random identifier described below. That is the entire list. There is no field for free text anywhere in it, so nothing else can be smuggled in later. Addresses that could contain a private code are replaced with their general shape before they are written down.

Vercel Web Analytics. Vercel hosts this site, and their measurement is served from skilture.com itself rather than an outside address. It records the page you opened, the site or search engine you came from, your approximate country, and your device, browser and operating system. It sets no cookie — it counts visitors using a value worked out from your request that is changed daily, so it cannot recognise you tomorrow or on any other website.

Google Analytics 4, still running alongside while we confirm our own numbers are correct. It records the page address, roughly where in the world you are (country or city level, worked out from your IP address), your browser and device type, how you arrived, and how long you stayed. Google processes this on our behalf and can hold it for up to 14 months. We intend to remove it once our own measurement is proven, and this page will say so on the day it goes.

None of these stores your IP address as a value we can look up, and none of them sees your name, email address or account details from this site, because this site never asks for them.

We keep our own records indefinitely. We are an early product and do not yet know which patterns will matter, so rather than guess and delete we keep the page-view records. They contain no name, email or address — only a page, a time and a random identifier.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. We set one of our own, sk_v, holding a random identifier — not your name, not your email, and nothing derived from you. It exists so that one person opening four pages is counted as one reader rather than four.

That identifier is shared between skilture.com and app.skilture.com. We are telling you this plainly because it is the part people care about: it means that if you read a page here and then open the app, we can see that those were the same browser. We use it for one thing — knowing whether the pages we write actually lead anyone to the product. It is not used to build a profile of you, it is not combined with data from other companies, and it never follows you to any site that is not Skilture.

It is a random value in a first-party cookie, set by our server and not readable by scripts in the page. If you clear your cookies it is gone and you become a new, unconnected reader.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we honour it automatically and record nothing — in all three of the systems above, not just the ones a blocker would have caught anyway. You do not have to find a setting on this site, and we do not put a consent pop-up in front of you to make you click something before you can read a page.

Most browsers can also block cookies for a site. Our own measurement is served from skilture.com rather than an outside address, so a tracker blocker will not necessarily catch it — which is exactly why the signal above is honoured, and why we are telling you here rather than leaving you to discover it. Nothing on this site breaks if you block cookies: it is reading material, and it works with every one of these turned off.

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it, and complain about how we have handled it. If you are in the UK or EU, the equivalent rights under UK GDPR and GDPR apply.

For this site specifically there is usually nothing to return: we hold no name or email from skilture.com, so there is no record here that is identifiable as yours. If you also use the app, that is where your data lives and the app notice explains how to have all of it deleted.
