Don't memorise answers. For each question, read what the interviewer is looking for, then practise answering out loud in your own words with a real example. The notes describe strong answers and common red flags — they are for your prep, not a script.
Sales Pipeline Management
2 questionsWalk me through how you qualify a lead before investing time in it.
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong answers use a qualification framework (need, budget, authority, timeline) and disqualify early. Chasing every lead regardless of fit is a red flag.
How do you handle a long sales cycle with many stakeholders?
AdvancedWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for mapping decision-makers, multi-threading, and maintaining momentum. Relying on a single champion is a red flag.
Sales Forecasting
1 questionHow do you keep your pipeline honest so your forecast is trustworthy?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for realistic stage assessment, updating the CRM, and not sandbagging or inflating. A pipeline padded to look busy is a red flag.
Negotiation
1 questionA prospect says 'your price is too high.' How do you respond?
AdvancedWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong candidates uncover the real concern, reinforce value, and trade rather than discount reflexively. Immediately dropping the price is a red flag.
Cold Calling
1 questionHow do you approach cold outreach so it does not get ignored?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for research, a relevant hook tied to the prospect's problem, and persistence without being pushy. Generic spray-and-pray scripts are a red flag.
Lead Generation
1 questionHow do you generate your own pipeline rather than waiting for marketing leads?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong answers show proactive prospecting, referrals, and networking with a targeted ICP. Relying entirely on inbound is a red flag for a hunter role.
Objection Handling
1 questionA prospect raises an objection you have not heard before. How do you handle it in the moment?
AdvancedWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for listening, clarifying the real concern, and responding honestly rather than steamrolling. Dismissing objections or making something up are red flags.
Client Relationship Management
1 questionHow do you build a relationship with a client that leads to repeat business and referrals?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong candidates focus on delivering value, following through, and trust, not just closing. A transactional 'close and disappear' approach is a red flag.
Presentation Skills
1 questionHow do you tailor a pitch to a prospect's specific situation instead of a generic demo?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for discovery first, then connecting the product to their specific pain and outcomes. A one-size-fits-all feature dump is a red flag.
CRM
1 questionHow do you use a CRM to actually help you sell, not just as admin?
BasicWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong answers track activity, next steps, and follow-ups to stay on top of deals. Treating the CRM as a chore they avoid is a red flag.
Communication
1 questionHow do you bounce back from a string of rejections and keep performing?
BasicWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong candidates show resilience, learn from lost deals, and stay positive and consistent. Blaming leads or the product with no reflection is a red flag.
Business Acumen
1 questionHow do you know a deal well enough to forecast a close date confidently?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for confirmed next steps, mutual plans, and understanding the buyer's process, not hope. 'It feels close' with no evidence is a red flag.
Product Knowledge
1 questionA customer wants something the product cannot really do. How do you handle it?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong candidates are honest, find what the product can do, and avoid overpromising to close. Overselling to hit quota and creating churn is a serious red flag.
Behavioural & role-general
2 questionsTell me about the biggest deal you closed. What made it work?
BasicWhat the interviewer is looking for: Look for a repeatable approach, understanding the buyer, and clear ownership. A story that credits pure luck is a red flag.
How do you sell in a way you would be comfortable defending to the customer later?
IntermediateWhat the interviewer is looking for: Strong answers value long-term trust and honest selling over short-term wins. Willingness to mislead to close is a serious red flag.
